Pure adrenaline on concrete. New to the Bienne Crit, the Fixed Gear category is open to everyone and brings together the international track bike scene. With no freewheel and no brakes, it is all about raw power, speed, and flow through the urban circuit.

General Race Rules +

Race Flags

  • Green Flag: Race is on!
  • Yellow Flag: Watch out, crashed riders or obstacle in this section.
  • Red Flag: Race is neutralized, slow down immediately.
  • Blue Flag: You are being lapped, exit the course safely!

Behavior & Lapped Riders

  • Lapped riders must exit the course at the next best safe possibility immediately by riding along the outside barriers.
  • Unpredictable swerving, especially during sprints, is strictly forbidden and leads to disqualification.
  • Indications by court-marshals and race jury must be respected at all times.
  • Every rider is obliged to have their own accident insurance covering any crash-related costs.

  • Helmet: Mandatory during all times on the race track
  • Clipless pedals
  • Timing chip and Race-number (provided at check-in)

Prohibited

  • Lights and reflectors
  • Pedal or toe straps (no flat pedals)
  • Headphones
  • Chest-mounted cameras or handlebar phone mounts

Permitted

  • Bike mounted cameras
  • Bicycle computers / head units (securely mounted)

  • Fully functional road bike with gears.
  • Both front and rear brakes must be installed and work perfectly.
  • Only standard drop bars are allowed. No triathlon or TT-extensions.
  • Fixed-gear conversions are not allowed in this category.

Race Directives

  • There are NO free laps for mechanicals or crashes.
Fixed Gear Specifics +

Bike Setup

  • Track bike with fixed gear setup only.
  • No brakes installed. Completely brakeless.
  • Lockrings are absolutely mandatory.
  • Only standard drop bars are allowed. No flat bars, bullhorns, or TT-extensions.
